Restoration is planned around the specific tooth and the task the crown needs to solve — not the crown itself
The decision to restore a tooth with a crown is made after diagnostics. The doctor assesses the tooth, discusses a possible treatment plan with the patient, and explains what the end result should look like.
Once the plan is agreed, the tooth is prepared for the future crown under a microscope. An impression is then taken, which is used to make the crown.
While the permanent crown is being made, a temporary crown is used whenever the specific clinical situation calls for one.
The finished crown is tried in, its shape and fit are assessed, and the result is confirmed with the patient once more before it's fixed in place.
The crown material is selected based on the clinical situation, the treatment goal, and the budget agreed with the patient.
